Inspirations for Youth and Family teen rehab owner’s treatment center to exhibit at Boca PAL 5K Half Marathon for the fourth consecutive year
Fort Lauderdale, Fla, November 3, 2016 – Karen Corcoran-Walsh, CAP, ICADC, MFT, ASAM, and owner of Inspirations for Youth and Families renews her sponsorship of the Sun Capital Boca PAL Half Marathon & Five Guys 5K. Corcoran-Walsh (owner of two leading South Florida teen and adult substance-abuse and mental-health treatment centers) has been a long-standing donor of Boca PAL’s transformative community youth programs.
The Boca PAL event will take place on Nov. 6, 2016, at the Spanish River Park in Boca Raton. It will be the 16th Annual Sun Capital Half Marathon & Five Guys 5K, which is Boca Raton’s largest half marathon. The half-marathon race will commence at 6:30 a.m. followed by the 5K run at 6:35 a.m.
“Inspirations for Youth and Families sponsorship of the Boca PAL road racing event reflects our on-going commitment to help at-risk youth rise above the many challenges they are faced with in life,” said Corcoran-Walsh. “As a proud sponsor of many Boca PAL programs, there is a natural synergy between what we do to help teens in crisis and what Boca PAL has been able to achieve with its at-risk youth program that has a proven track record of success.”
“We can always depend on Karen Corcoran-Walsh’s Boca PAL support. The proceeds we raise from business leaders like her help maintain our programs financial solvency and keep at-risk youth off the streets,” said Boca Raton Police Sergeant Robert Deneve. “Her efforts also allow Boca PAL to engage our youth in healthy activities that foster much-needed self-esteem. Karen has had a tremendous positive impact on our program with her boundless generosity.”
Inspirations’ Teens in Drug Rehab Volunteer at Boca PAL Races
Corcoran-Walsh has wisely volunteered her teens to help out at the event. “We have enlisted our teens to assist at both the Boca PAL 5K and Half Marathon road races. They will be getting up at 4:30 a.m. to arrive at the early-morning race event and will be handing out water to the runners.”
“This volunteering activity exposes our teens to the real world and inserts them in a responsible position. The lessons they will learn will help them in their pathway to recovery,” Corcoran-Walsh added. “When the time comes for each teen to return home from our addiction treatment center, their transition will be much easier as a result from the lessons they have learned at this event.”
Corcoran-Walsh has also been a long-time supporter of the Boca PAL’s Annual Charles McCutheon Memorial Charity Golf Tournament. In addition, she has been involved with the Boca PAL boxing program that has entered its 16th year.
Corcoran-Walsh owns and runs Inspirations for Youth and Families teen treatment center as well as its adult counterpart Cove Center for Recovery. Both dual-diagnosis facilities treat individuals struggling with substance-abuse, such as alcohol or marijuana abuse, as well as mental-health issues like depression, anxiety, and trauma.
About Boca PAL
The Boca Raton Police Athletic League (BocaPAL) is a non-profit group established by the Boca Raton Police Department to assist youth who are at-risk of academic failure, substance-abuse, or criminal activity by providing safe places for them to go during non-school hours with structured recreational activities. Boca Raton police officers act as role models to city youth and assist with sports, leadership, and educational programs.
Boca PAL’s mission is to coordinate programs and activities which contribute to the development of character, integrity, physical and mental fitness, and the attainment of positive personal objectives. These achievements have resulted in greater self-esteem, improved decision-making skills, better citizenship, and enhanced quality of life. The benefit of this growth and success extends beyond the program, as these youngsters become positive role models for peers and younger children in the community.
